A listening and observation station

The sound works are based on sound recordings taken around and in the river, which are then affected by continuous measurements from sensors placed in the river by NIVA - Norwegian Institute for Water Research. The sensors measure temperature, pH value, turbidity, organic matter and conductivity. Each of the measurements continuously changes the recordings with different effects, including speed, complexity, pitch, tonality, and volume.
The sculpture's body also includes some of the river's materials: rubbish fished up from Glomma in Fredrikstad and clay collected from the riverbank in Østfold.
The project has been created with help from limnologist Joanna Lynn Kemp, the Norwegian Institute for Water Research - NIVA, artist and programmer Boris Kourtokov, metal artist Kristine Sandøy, ceramicist Erika Aasen at Old Oslo Creative Workshop, the River and Sea Foundation, curator Tulle Ruth Koefod-Jebsen and Fredrikstad Municipality.
